Maestro Lacquer Sale price68,00 €

Maestro lacquer is a surface treatment with resonance-controlling properties. Use Maestro lacquer on loudspeakers, cables and electronics and the sound becomes more natural, open, refined and colourful.

Maestro Lacquer

Maestro lacquer is a natural resin lacquer with very special properties, optimised for coating loudspeaker cones and electronic components for music reproduction. The mechanical resonances of any body are reflected at its boundary surfaces. If you change the top layer by applying Maestro lacquer, this layer can imprint its sound character on the coated part. Please note the fundamental difference to concepts that try to achieve better sound through damping: damping can reduce the amplitude of an unwanted resonance, but it always changes the quality factor of that resonance peak as well, which becomes broader. This in turn is quite unpleasant to the ear.

How does it work?

As described, this lacquer changes the resonance behaviour of whatever it is applied to. What effect does that have on hi-fi components? The effect is easiest to understand in mechanical systems such as loudspeakers, turntables and microphones, where mechanical resonances have a directly visible influence on the music signal. These mechanical resonances make up the inherent sound of the part, which you can steer in a positive direction by coating it with Maestro lacquer. The same applies to active and passive electronic components, all of which are microphonic. When they are excited into mechanical vibration, they transfer their inherent sound to the music signal.
