Horn Loudspeakers

Horn loudspeakers that let quiet details be heard.

A horn connects the membrane more closely with the air in the room. Fine information is preserved: the breath before a voice begins, the decay of a grand piano. Even at low volume, music stays lively and clear.

In our manufactory in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany, we develop and build high end loudspeakers for living spaces. The Highline Bobby starts compact and grows into a floorstanding speaker with a Bass Extension. The Topline is designed for larger rooms and brings its own bass, which we tune to your room. Cabinet and horn are finished in the colour of your choice.

Frequently asked questions about horn loudspeakers

What is a horn loudspeaker?

A horn loudspeaker guides sound into the room through a flared attachment, the horn. The horn improves the connection between membrane and air. Fine information is preserved, and music sounds open and immediate. In our loudspeakers, the horn works in the upper frequency range.

Do horn loudspeakers sound harsh?

Many horn loudspeakers use compression drivers to play as loud as possible. This can sound thin and harsh. We take a different path: our horns are designed for finesse rather than volume, and horn and woofer have been matched to each other over many years. The result is a calm, coherent sound that stays relaxed even over long listening sessions.

Which loudspeaker suits my room?

For smaller living rooms, the Highline Bobby S is a good place to start. With a Bass Extension it becomes the Bobby M and reaches deeper into the bass, with a second one the Bobby L. The Topline Bob M is designed for living rooms, Bob L and Bob XL for larger rooms, the XL for listening distances of more than three metres. In our showroom you can listen to the loudspeakers at your own pace, ideally with your own music.

Which amplifier suits our loudspeakers?

Our loudspeakers do not need a lot of power. We usually play the Bobby S with our Stateline Amp 2 at 2 × 20 watts. With the Topline, the bass brings its own amplifier, and for the remaining range amplifiers from 30 watts are sufficient. Tube, hybrid and solid-state amplifiers all work well.
