Resonance control instead of damping

Many mats calm the sound by absorbing energy. The Perfect Interface takes a different approach: the paper, impregnated with Maestro lacquer, controls the resonances between record and platter and leaves the music free. You hear an open, organic sound with precise timing.

Handmade in Japan, finished in Mülheim

Every mat is unique

The paper from the paper mulberry tree is traditionally made by hand in Japan and dried on wood. In our manufactory in Mülheim an der Ruhr we cut it to shape and impregnate it with SteinMusic Maestro lacquer made from natural resins. Because every mat is made by hand, each one looks a little different.

How to use it

Place the Perfect Interface directly on the platter, label side up. It is designed to be used without any further underlay and works with platters made of metal, acrylic, wood and combinations of these materials.

Signature or Carbon Signature

The Signature is the base version of the Perfect Interface. The Perfect Interface Carbon Signature adds a carbon layer on the underside and brings even more finesse, also on platters that are usually played without a mat.

Goes well with

A mat can only sound as good as the cartridge is aligned. The Achat 1 alignment protractor helps you set it up. For the next step at the tonearm: the Ametrin 1 Composite headshell.

Frequently asked questions about the Perfect Interface

Do I need to readjust the tonearm after fitting the mat?

Not for a first try, the mat is very thin. If it replaces a much thicker mat, adjust the tonearm height (VTA) to the lower height afterwards.

Does it also work on a platter with a built-in mat?

Yes. In that case, simply place the Perfect Interface on top of the existing mat.

The mat sticks to the record when I lift it off. What can I do?

Because it is very light, this can happen. Use the four included adhesive dots and the template to fix the mat to the platter. Also try it once without a record weight or clamp, it sometimes sounds better.

How do I care for the mat, and what if it becomes wavy?

Remove dust with a soft brush, please do not use water. If the mat becomes wavy, place it between two sheets of paper on a hard surface and smooth it gently with an iron on the silk setting.
